“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.” – 1 John 4:18-19

In this episode, we meet up with Singer/Songwriter, Amy-Lynn Howson.

Our discussion is based on Jewel’s song “You Were Meant For Me” from her 1995 album, Pieces Of You.

As a nurse, Amy is passionate about helping others heal physically. As a songwriter, she is passionate about helping others heal emotionally, spiritually and relationally in ways that bring freedom.

God’s love found her when she was at her lowest, messiest, most “lost” time in life. He beckoned her to discover a different way of living, and gave her songs to sing along the way. God continues to lead her, and she content in knowing that she cannot do it alone.

Jewel, an American singer-songwriter, took the world by storm in 1995. Her debut album, Pieces of You, peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and produced 3 top 5 singles – with “Foolish Games” and “You Were Meant For Me” both reaching #1 on the US Adult Top 40.

Early on in her career, she reportedly lived out of her car while traveling the country and performing small gigs on the streets. During her time spent playing a local coffee shop on Thursdays, she was discovered and allowed to sign a deal with Atlantic Records.

“I’m becoming more and more myself with time. I guess that’s what grace is. The refinement of your soul through time.” – Jewel

“You Were Meant For Me”
song lyrics:

I hear the clock; it’s 6 a.m.
I feel so far from where I’ve been
I got my eggs; I got my pancakes too
I got my maple syrup, everything but you
I break the yolks and make a smiley face
I kinda like it in my brand new place
I wipe the spots off of the mirror
Don’t leave the keys in the door
I never put wet towels on the floor anymore ’cause

Dreams last so long, even after you’re gone
I know that you love me
And soon you will see, you were meant for me
And I was meant for you

I called my momma; she was out for a walk
Consoled a cup of coffee but it didn’t want to talk
So I picked up a paper, it was more bad news
More hearts being broken or people being used
Put on my coat in the pouring rain
I saw a movie it just wasn’t the same
Cause it was happy and I was sad
It made me miss you oh so bad ’cause

Dreams last so long, even after you’re gone
I know that you love me
And soon you will see, you were meant for me
And I was meant for you

I go about my business; I’m doing fine
Besides, what would I say if I had you on the line
Same old story, not much to say
Hearts are broken every day

I brush my teeth and put the cap back on
I know you hate it when I leave the light on
I pick up a book and turn the sheets down
And take a deep breath and a good look around

Put on my PJs and hop into bed
I’m half alive, but I feel mostly dead
I try and tell myself it’ll be all right
I just shouldn’t think anymore tonight ’cause

Dreams last so long, even after you’re gone
I know that you love me
And soon you will see, you were meant for me
And I was meant for you

You were meant for me, and I was meant for you

Have you accepted Christ as your Savior?

If you would like to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, please pray the following prayer:

“God, I believe in you and your son Jesus Christ.  I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave to save me. Today, I invite Jesus into my heart to stay.  I make you Lord over my life. Make me new. Wash me, Lord, and cleanse me. In Jesus Name, Amen”

If you have just prayed that prayer, we want to celebrate your new victory with you.  Please contact us at prayers@oceanfloorministries.com so we can welcome you into the kingdom.  We don’t want you to have to walk alone and we have some resources we would like the opportunity to share with you.
